Citing data from the International Trade Center and financial services firm Akcenta, the paper said Polish exports of grave candles were worth EUR 727 million last year, giving the country a 16.2-percent share of the global market.
That makes Poland the clear leader in Europe, with only China exporting more worldwide, according to the report.
Most Polish grave candles are exported to Germany, the Netherlands and Romania.
Exports fell slightly in 2024, by about 3 percent, Rzeczpospolita said.
The paper noted that Vietnam has emerged as a growing competitor. Its share of the global market is only 0.1 percentage point lower than Poland’s, and its exports surged 62 percent in 2024.
Poles traditionally visit family graves to lay flowers and light candles on All Saints' Day on November 1 and All Souls' Day on November 2.
